Picture Pages
The doldrums of February are upon us. I'm in the middle of a mini-vacation and today is a good day to stay inside and pour over vacation pictures in a much warmer locale. Its also a good time to freshen up the blog a little bit.
The new background for my blog is a photo taken by my husband, Kevin Amenta. He shot the sunset at Muir Beach while we were on vacation in California last summer. In fact, a lot of the photos I use for design purposes are his. He has quite the ability to take a great photograph.
He snapped this shot of me and our friends, Paige and Ron, as we stood and talked on the beach. I love the fact that he was actually taking pictures of the campfire and decided to include us in the background. Sadly, this is not our campfire. We drove to Muir Beach in search of great views of the sunset. The beach is located just a few miles out from San Francisco. Like most of the coastline in that area, if you want to reach the actual sandy beach, you have to make your descent. We started at the top of a huge hill and drove down a winding road that rivals those I've seen only in Jamaica. At the top of the hill the temperature was 86 degrees and by the time we reached the beach it was a chilly 62. That's when we realized, we should have brought along some firewood.
But Kevin brought along his camera and that is more important than being a tad bit cold for a few hours. The photos he took as we walked along the beach and explored are priceless in my book. I'm not one to snap photos on vacation, more often I like to soak up the atmosphere while I can.
However, Kevin finds a way to enjoy the vacation through his viewfinder. He always has his camera by his side. This photo was taken at AT&T Park, overlooking McCovey Cove.
We spent the day in San Francisco and caught a Giants game. While Fenway will always be number 1 in my heart, AT&T Park is a fantastic ballpark. Its a new venue with all the food, fun and gorgeous views of the Bay that you can possibly stand. With Tim Lincecum on the mound, the Giants beat their neighboring rivals, the Oakland A's, that night. I like to think we were their good luck charm because we watched them win a game in the same season they won the World Series.
Another huge part of that trip was the time we spent in Napa Valley. We rented a house on 1st Street in downtown Napa and spent most of our time driving from vineyard to vineyard sampling wine and signing up for wine clubs! The best find of the trip was a champagne from Russian River Vineyards.
There's nothing like flipping through vacation photos to give you that warm, summer feeling. I don't know about you, but I'm nice and cozy. How about breaking out some photos of your own?
